    Hey Guys,

I got the PMS, the Windows InterACQ software, and the 440cc injectors put in. After several hours of tuning, the best the car was able to hit was 220@ the wheels (12lbs). I know there are people on this board doing better than this with stock motors. Obviously there is room for improvement to say the least. I am still not anywhere close to the ENDYN claim of 345hp @ the crank, that's for sure.

I am running into something that I seem to remember others here having before. It's an intermittent problem, but it's getting to the point where it is happening more often than not.

Now that we have the PMS and monitoring software in, it is becoming more apparent at what is happening... Now we just have to figure out what is causing it.

Sometimes at idle the car will "bobble". RPM will not stay constant. Now that we have the software in, we can also see that ignition timing is flucuating severly... as bad as +/- 6 degrees at idle! During recording on the dyno, we also noticed the same thing seems to being occuring throughout the powerband. Timing is being retarded for some reason pretty badly by the stock computer, which in turn is causing us to lose power. The PMS will pop a code every once and a while that will say "no ignition output signal". This problem was occuring long before the PMS, so it is unlikely that the PMS has any relation to the problem.

Today while driving, the car is popping CEL's, which it has not done before. If I reset, they come back after a WOT run.

Code 15- Ignition Output Signal (just happened once)
Code 23- Knock Sensor (This one keeps reoccuring)

Couple of thoughts me and the tuner have.

#1- Ignitor problem. Although rumor has it these just quit, they don't usually cause problems like this.

#2- Knock sensor. Since the motor is using TOO's pistons, they are probably noisier than stock, causing the sensor to think it hears detonation, and retard timing.

    Any other ideas??

    Damn this is frustrating.

    Allan

#2 sounds possible??...but I havent heard anyone having that problem with JE's??...so my guess might be that you are detonating...so the knock sensor is retarding...where is your static timing set at?? and where are you running it with the PMS??...can you measure intake temps??..Im sure running at 12psi has the temps on the high side

    Thanks Jim.

Unfortunately I'm off to Charlotte for this week in about 10 minutes. Ed can probably give you details on what is happening. Although he does not know about the CEL's. That just started yesterday, I have not talked to him yet.

Thanks anyway... You coming up this weekend I assume?

I doubt the knock sensor code has anything to do with knock. Probably incorrect voltage drop due to a bad sensor or loose wire/ground. When you troubleshoot the sensor, lets hope you get lucky and find one cause that generated both problems.

It could be #1, but it's definately not #2 as you describe it. The OEM knock sensor does not function above 5000rpm (source: Hondata), so if you are experiencing retard above that rpm, it's not the knock sensor. I would check your cap, coil and especially the rotor. Hope that helps.

    Allen,

I am driving over in the morning to pick up some parts from Ed... maybe we should brainstorm over lunch.

Call me if you can make it.

Have you check your knock sensor yet? mine broke, and it keep giving me the cel. However, mine idle fine.. so maybe, you are having 2 different problems occuring at the same time.
